Over the past few years there have been stories out about the wonders of Jamaican Black Castor Oil. I even did a piece about why it may be more effective than cold-pressed Castor oil, and tons of people have given their testimonials about its effect on their hair. Well I have another one, this time from a guy's perspective:
I began my application on May 26th. First I cut all my hair off and was essentially bald. Then I began applying to the crown of my scalp as well as the temples on a daily basis. I washed my hair every morning with a tea tree based shampoo and then applied my mix before going to work. I made sure to massage it into my temples and crown. Afterward I brushed my hair with 50 to 75 strokes following my normal hair growth pattern. I cut my hair every 7-9 days as to keep my scalp visible and to ensure easy application.I mixed Jamaican Black Castor oil and emu oil in a bowl by pouring in a quarter bottle of emu and 3/8 bottle of the Castor oil. I made sure to have more emu oil than Castor oil since emu oil was to be the carrier for the Castor oil to the hair follicle since emu penetrates the scalp faster and easier than the Castor oil.I did some research on carrier oils before I made my mix, and watched YouTube videos to figure out what works well with Castor oil. I learned that anything put on human skin and scalp that has phosphorus in it will not penetrate the scalp because skin has no phosphorous and is programmed to keep such penetration from happening. Conversely, anything such as emu oil that is phospholipid deficient, i.e. has no phosphorus, will penetrate right in and take with it any medicinal materials added to it. And so is a good carrier oil. Even on its own without added materials emu oil has amazing hair growth properties.
November 2013 - after 6 months of use
My side note: I'm not sure if the results were just a case of male pattern baldness being nipped in the bud, or if the oil fixed the ill-effects of a scalp infection from years ago that may have never properly healed despite antibiotics. Either way, it is clear that after 6 months, his hair is significantly thicker in the affected areas.
He says: "Results may vary, but results will occur".
