I know what I am giving for Christmas!

SPOILER ALERT:  If you are related to me or would for some other reason expect a Christmas present from me PLEASE do not read this post! (But feel free to purchase my book, One Hairstyle, Thirty-one Ways, and market it to everyone you may know....) I recently posted a series of recipes for creating body products from my stash of butters and oils. Those recipes along with some others that I have recently gathered have inspired me to have a DIY Christmas. My list includes:

Shampoo bars (inspired by KisforKinky's hibiscus shampoo bars)
- note that you will need a mold to hold your bar as it goes from a liquid to a solid
- I am currently leaning toward rosemary mint

Body Scrubs

Ginger-Cinnamon Body Scrub*

1 cup sea salt
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 cup almond oil or olive oil

Mix the ingredients, if not used immediately store the mix in a clean bottle or jar. After dampening the skin, rub over the body in order to gently exfoliate. Do not use on your face. Rinse with warm water.

Brown Sugar and Lemon Scrub*

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup salt
1 tbsp of lemon juice
1 tbsp of liquid virgin coconut oil
1 tbsp of honey

Combine brown sugar and salt, then add lemon juice, virgin coconut oil and honey, mix well. Store any extra mix in a clean bottle or jar. After dampening the skin, rub over the body in order to gently exfoliate. Do not use on your face. Rinse with warm water.

Lotion Bars*

4 oz mango or shea butter
4 oz beeswax, yellow or white
5 oz jojoba or grapeseed oil
2 tsps of essential or fragrance oils
Mold or molds of desired shape

Melt the beeswax in a container (either in a double boiler or in the microwave on low power), then add the butters and jojoba or grapeseed oil. Mix well, and stir in your fragrance or essential oil. Pour into molds. Or pour into one container and cut the bars after it has hardened. Allow 1-2 hours for the mixture to set.

Easy Clay Mask*

1 part Bentonite Clay
1 part Rhassoul Clay
Several drops of Lavendar, Lemongrass, or Chamomile essential oils.
Distilled or rose water

Mix even amounts of clay with enough water (either distilled or rose water) to be the desired consistency. Then mix in essential oils. Apply to face for 15-20 minutes until dry, then rinse with warm water or washcloth dipped in warm water. This can be used on any skin type, and should help to soften skin and eliminate blackheads. Note that this mask may be drying and should be followed with a moisturizer.

Candles - I found a good recipe here, and I will let you know how it turns out.
