Watch the Williams Sisters Grow Up in New Documentary...

I remember watching a news story on Venus and Serena when I was a child. I saw them run for what seemed like hours, and hitting tennis balls with a speed and an accuracy that even I knew was unusual. Well more of that story is being brought to the masses. 'Venus and Serena' was shot by ABC News alums Maiken Baird and Michelle Major. It was cut from more than 450 hours of footage on the Williams sisters, from their childhood through their meteoric rise as international tennis champions.

The trailer is out, but Venus and Serena haven't been on board with the project since they saw the final cut in September of last year. Although they gave permission for the use of their footage, the film's bent focused too much on their father, his training methods and his outside relationships for their liking.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of them as children. I know that it was an awkward transition from cornrows and beads to their grown-up looks, but I loved the fact that they wore hairstyles that I used to wear, and that they didn't need to look like everyone else to beat them at the same game.

The film will be available on iTunes on April 4th, and in theaters May 10th.
