This Book Is Awesome! Take a Look....

Did I tell you that I have a new book out? I've updated One Hairstyle, Thirty-one Ways, and created a  2nd Edition! It is currently on sale at Amazon.com for $7.95, while the original version is there for $2.99. As you may guess from the title, the books house more than 31 hairstyles each and variations for a number of the styles. The styles translate well for loose, loc'd, pressed, twisted and braided hair, so check it out and tell your friends! The 2nd Edition is full of more than 300 all new photos including final looks with additional makeup and accessory choices, new instructions, several new and improved styles, some favorite blog posts, and general musings about the names I've chosen for the styles including The Camel, Whadyasay?, Roly-Poly, The Fascinator, The Conch, and many more.

Although you can see a preview of the book on Amazon (and I believe the instructions for the first 3 styles), I decided to include a set of instructions for one of my favorite styles. It is easy and versatile and can be used to rescue old Bantu's or as a 20 minute style that can take you anywhere. My description and the steps are included below, although the format differs from that in the actual book.

I would love to know what you think.

Unbantu’d Side Twists Although I wasn’t being very creative when I came up with this name, I think of this look as a quick Bantu style that can take you anywhere. Note: In the book I have a set of instructions for Bantu knots, as such, I do not include instructions for the individual styles that use Bantus as part of their formulation.

(needs elastic bands or pins)
Step 5
Step 6

Step 1: Dampen hair slightly with water, leave-in conditioner, or any refreshing spray that you may use.
Step 2: Twist hair into 7-8 Bantu knots.
Step 3: Let hair set until it is no longer damp or sit under a hooded dryer for 15-20 min.
Step 4: Untwist Bantus with oiled hands.
Step 5: Take approximately half of your twists and position them halfway between your ear and forehead. Form a ponytail.
Step 6: Form a second ponytail with the rest of your hair between your ear and the nape of your neck.
Step 7: Link some of the Bantu waves/curls so your hair looks like a single unit.
