Four Helpful Hints For Keeping Your Hair on Your Head

Hair growth, length retention and having thick and healthy hair are the result of genetics, health and nutrition, and good hair habits. Here are these tips from sharecare.com to keep your hair on your head...

1. Be a little more gentle. Try not to snatch your comb through tangles in your hair. Finger detangle, and if you must use a comb, comb hair from the tip to the root. Be mindful of using high heat, and when you dry your hair, squeeze out excess water instead of rough toweling because wet hair is very vulnerable.

2. Include a little caffeine in your diet. Apparently, it combats DHT, a follicle-damaging hormone that is a by-product of testosterone. Drink a little coffee or tea to get in a fix.

3. Vary your vegetables. Some veggies like peas, carrots, soybeans and cauliflower are good sources for vitamin b6, biotin, and folate, all of which encourage growth and help slow hair loss. Add them to a salad or have them as crudités.

4. Protein, protein, protein. Without protein there is no hair growth, so feed your stands with good stuff like skinless chicken breasts because they are a good source of protein and are rich in zinc and iron - both minerals that we need to prevent hair loss.
