This chic naturalista is showing the world that her hair is beautiful, one photograph at a time.
Why did you decide to go natural?
I've always been natural, but just learned to accept my hair about 2 years ago only because I rejected my hair a little when I was younger. I went natural 2 years ago because I learned to accept my frizzy hair in a world where straight hair governs and I realized that I love my hair. This is me, my personality, my heritage, my roots. Now when I walk down the street people are surprised. They say, “Is that really you hair ??” or “Can I touch ??!” When I was younger I wished to have straight hair, so I relaxed my hair. Some people liked it, others didn't. Personally, now, I prefer my blond curly afro hair!
What stage of life were you in when you went natural (personally and or professionally) - student, working, in a relationship, parent?
I accepted my natural hair when I was in high school.
Best compliment you've received on your natural hair?
"Your hair & your sytle is my own insparaton " - from a person in the hair industry.
One tip you would give a new natural?
I think everybody is naturally beautiful! We just have to learn to appreciate what makes us different and unique. Our hair is a gift for the world, from God! Accept what you have been given from God and wear it proudly!
Do you feel like you are part of the natural hair community?
The natural hair community plays the most important part in helping others to embrace their natural hair, and their beauty because in the past up to now society has pushed people to relax our curls! I am a natural hair so I feel like I can help, I hope so.
Do you feel like your natural hair has influenced other parts of your life?
My natural hair plays the biggest part in my professional modeling career. Each model has their own charm, a unique characteristic, for me it's my special blond afro.
