Working out with two-strand twists!

Recreation of healthy hairstyle winner - It did work well for exercise!

If I haven’t declared it before, I will say it now - I LOVE TWO-STRAND TWISTS!!!!!  Doing two-strand twists on a regular basis began last year at around the same time that I started my first ever boot camp. I've continued to (try to) exercise and continued to twist my hair. My twists have made it “easy” to deal with my hair throughout the day as I transition from bed to exercise to work.

French Braided two-strand twists
I’ve run and sweat with my twists tied up, out, up in ponytails or updos, or in whichever style I slept in the night before, and the style has (almost always) survived the exercise and the fIollowing day. I have also been inspired by a friend who ties her twists with a scarf in such a way that the scarf is tight at the scalp and barely covers her twists in the back.  It prevents some sweat from getting in her eyes and it still allows for air circulation.  She has even been able to run with curlers still in her twists!

I think that tying your twists up or any fairly tight style (including Bantus, ponytails and French braids) will survive your exercise of the day better than leaving your twists completely loose. I’ve found that styling my twists before exercise and leaving until I am dressed for work will result in really pretty styles.  A French braid, or several braids, will result in really pretty waves. I then clip up the top and have a twisted braid out for the day.

If you choose to let your twists do as they will during exercise, a refresh (wash, co-wash, rinse out or dampening and sealing your twists) that day or every few days should make your twists primed and ready to style in whichever way you choose.
