(Updated) I went to the WORLD NATURAL HAIR SHOW THIS WEEKEND!!!

The World Natural Hair Show was April 27th and 28th. The 16th annual event is the largest natural hair show in America. It hosted over 55,000 guests over the course of two days.
Did you go?

 I went!

This is what I ended the weekend with:

I attended two other events Saturday, and was fortunate in
that a co-worker bought some products at my request...

This is what I wore:

I figured that my salmon colored wide legged pants and patterned split back top would take me through a brunch meetup, the show, another meetup, and if it had to...work AND the playoff game. I didn't go to work, and I got the chance to change before the game (Go Hawks!!!) so it only had to carry me through for about 6 hours on Saturday.

My hair was in a modified "Whadyasay?"
from my book...and can I say that I loved
my own outfit? Because I loved my outfit!

I saw:

I LOVE THE COLOR!!! She brightened up my whole day!

Some PJs were on there way out by 12:30
on Saturday, products in hand! They came, they saw, they conquered!

I met Ms. Gradieh (from Minnesota!) in
front of the My Honey Child booth.

These ladies were representing their Florida-based meet-up group!

I met Sisters with Beauty...they were promoting their site which is focused on
healthy natural hair and teaching women how to work with their own textures.

I posed with Ms. World's Top Natural Hair Model (from all of the WNHS
advertising for this year), Jessica Williams (that's her in the ad above), and another contestant. I was wearing really tall
wedges, and I was still 3 inches shorter than everyone else.

Exhibits included jewelry, poetry,t-shirts, clothing, the Social Circle, demonstrations, teeth whitening, photo booths, singers, dancers.....and products! I didn't do a great job in capturing the booths this year - but there were a lot of people with a lot to offer. Naptural Roots Publishing, Shea Moisture, Entwine, Jane Carter, Taliah Waajid, Alikay, Mizoni, Jamaican Mango & Lime, Curls Unleashed and many others were there. Vloggers from around ATL and around the country were also in full effect...but I didn't take pictures of any of them! Sorry...

I got a sample of the My Honey Child Coconut Hair Milk,
but I may have to invest in some products.

Eden Bodyworks....

Everyone loves Jamaican Black Castor Oil!

The Mane Event by Mega Growth

Mega Growth had a relaunching party on Thursday night at the King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta. They brought out local celebrities Porsha Stewart, some of the Married to Medicine cast, Andrea Kelly from Hollywood Exes, and imported Laz Alonso and Tatiana Ali. Radio Host Egypt, of V-103, and Jennifer Hudson's stylist also made appearances.

I got there so late that I only saw Laz Alonso by chance as he waited outside for his car (our very fuzzy pic is on Instagram), and the cast of Married to Medicine. I've only seen the show's previews, so I can't tell you who is in the photos (other than Andrea Kelly) but here is a photo.

Representatives from LaLa Vasquez's makeup line, and Social Box were there, and Mega Growth provided free massages, free hair consultations and mini-makeovers, gift bags with full-sized products which are supposed to be geared towards the relaxed and natural (I'll check it out), several full bars and an excellent assortment of desserts and hors d'oeuvres.

Curly Nikki Was Here...and so was I

Me & Curly Nikki! My hair is in a modified
"Fascinator" from the book....
So last night's Curly Nikki event at Do-Restaurant at the View was sponsored by Mizani and attended by hundreds of ATL naturals. While I was sad that I didn't make it to the Bronner Brothers' Hair Show and last night's Battle Royale - I am glad that I finally got to see Curly Nikki. As I said in my earlier post, I've been reading her blog for years, and have always loved her posts. BTW - she is TINY!!! And VERY nice - she hugged everyone that took photos with her and seemed to smile through what looked like 100s of photos...

Anyway, I made it to the event, got some photos, passed on my card and promoted for One Hairstyle, Thirty-one Ways and the blog. I may have even found some new Curlfriends!!

Saw a ton of gorgeous naturalistas showing the diversity of our hair....

The sponsors were providing cocktails;

While Mizani stylists and educators spoke about the products and did some demonstrations:

Mizani educator Chaundra snd my friend Leslie discussed their new natural
line. I'm going to ask her to try the samples from the gift bag and report back.

Local ATL bloggers and vloggers were there - including It's Arkeeda and CurlyGirlLex (they are both nominated for B. Fab Awards):

Bronner Brothers' Breakdown

Hair Art at the Bronner Brothers' Hair Show

Don't worry, although there was a lot of hair drama, I didn't experience anything worthy of a physical breakdown, I'm just giving a recap of my day at the hair show. I attended the 65th annual Bronner Brothers' hair show on Sunday with my niece in tow.

Lisa Price, Founder of
Carol's Daughter, & me!

We started out at the Sunday morning church service and ended the day sorting through vendors on the lower level. (That is where I met Lisa Price!)

In between we attended a couple of informational sessions on natural hair care lines, watched the Surgeon General, Dr. Regina Benjamin, speak at the Healthy Hair competition (more to come on that later) and popped in on the Grab Bag competition, where contestants must use the items in the bag provided to them to create a look within 30 minutes. MaCray from Chicagolicious was there and won second place.

MaCray's Before & After

MaCray was working!

All in all it was, as always, worth the price of admittance. To my suprise, my niece actually said she had a good time! I think it was the free samples that got her.

Free nails? My niece was excited!!

There were a lot of
hair models....

Moose Eyelash Model?

Sorry about the photos, but I was having technical difficulties all day, and lost some of my better images.
