Hey Look Its...Bruno Mars!

Bruno Mars - he sang and co-wrote the hooks for some popular songs over the last few years, "Nothin' on You" by B.o.B, and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy. He also co-wrote the hits "Right Round" by Flo Rida featuring Ke$ha, and "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan. And I really like the single, “Locked Out of Heaven” (I've linked to the video). You are probably used to seeing him look like this:

but now he is on the cover of the April issue of GQ magazine, known as the style-bible. There he is showing the masses how to rock blazers...

but the 1/4 Puerto Rican, 1/4 Jewish, 1/2 Filipino, Hawaiian raised Peter Gene Hernandez (birth name), also rocks his natural curls during his free time...as seen above. I actually like the Afro. I hope he wears it like that more often, even without a hat...What do you think?

A Man's Perspective: Shea Moisture's African Black Soap Facial Wash & Scrub

Shea Moisture's men's skincare line co-sponsored a party I attended earlier this year. I was given a a bottle of the Shea Moisture Shave African Black Soap Facial Wash & Scrub, and I wanted to find someone to try it out and report back...Well Calvin was kind enough to do so! I gave him the bottle, and he used it several times over the course of a few weeks. Here is what he had to say:

This pre-shave exfoliating scrub has a pleasant, manly scent, but isn't cloying or too musky. Lenny is Out, Jessie is in for Marvin Gaye Biopic...

Who do you think would make a better Marvin Gaye: singer/actor Lenny Kravitz or actor/Broadway star/singer Jessie L. Martin? Apparently Jessie L. Martin was originally awarded the role (5 years ago), then lost it to Mr. Kravitz when the production team changed, and the role is now being played by the original star, Jessie L. Martin....

The production team has changed several times, but filming of "Sexual Healing" is set to begin in Europe later on this month. It will focus on Gaye's attempt to reign in his additions in the early 1980's. I think it will be a good film either way, but I must say I would always prefer to see Lenny over Jessie...but that's me. What do you think?

Natural Men...

Most men keep their hair natural. We've all heard men say that they needed to be "edged up", or watched them lovingly brush their hair for what seemed like hours on end. Some have low fades, some keep their waves "right" with their wave caps, men have "baldies", and others have locs, cornrows, twists, and then there are men that keep their hair in Afros.

I started thinking about this topic because I've watched the first few episodes of Michael Ealy's new TV show, Common Law, and I noticed that they gave him a haircut in the 3rd episode (it looked like they gave him a fade, but left a good amount of hair on top) . I thought that it looked pretty good, and I also realized that it was the first time I could recall him having a haircut in any of the movies and TV shows that I've seen him in. In my head he generally looks like this....
